The children readily absorb all aspects of their environment in a quest to become part of their culture, observe and learn from the activities of the older children. Your older child gains self confidence, leadership skills and responsibility by setting an example for her younger friends. Children want to learn, they want to be independent and have an effortless ability to absorb knowledge from surroundings. The classroom environment is specially prepared with Montessori materials that are designed for the presentation and exploration of practical life, refinement of senses, early mathematics, language, culture, creativity. They are designed to meet the specific needs of each age and are inviting but not over-stimulating.
Primary
The most important period of life is not the age of university studies, but the first one, the period from birth to the age of six… At no other age has the child greater need for an intelligent help, and any obstacle that impedes his creative work will lessen the chance he has of achieving perfection.

The Gift of Choice
The children have the freedom to make choices from a variety of sequentially-designed materials, which aids in their development of responsibility and self-mastery. This environment provides a setting rich in factual and beautiful materials, where the children construct their own intelligence with meaningful and purposeful work. Your child will be introduced to a broad range of concepts and activities in individual and small group lessons. The real learning occurs through independent activity of the child by choosing to explore it, repeat it and perfect it. Self-discipline happens when a child is absorbed in her work, especially when that work is purposeful and the child can see direct relevance to her environment.

Child Centered
In our child-centered environment, each child develops independence, self-discipline, and mastery of skills at their own pace. The Montessori approach is individualised. The guide/teacher is trained to closely observe your child’s interests, tendencies and needs; to respect your child’s unique potential and connects him with the lesson best suited at that precise moment of development. Your child will be challenged according to her ability, not to a generic standard.

Scientific Hands-On Materials Help Your Child Learn
The scientifically designed Montessori materials help your child learn through hands-on use and exploration. The children learn to make deliberate choices from hundreds of activities in a carefully prepared environment. The children become experts in guiding their own learning and discovering the world. The children follow similar journeys into language, mathematics, music, geography, art, science, botany and zoology.

Individualised Learning
Children of this nursery or pre-school age have an innate drive to find out about their world, their time and place, to make sense of it and make it theirs. Otkrivatel offers children the keys to the world, preparing them to find and take their place in it. Journeys that move from the simple to the complex, from an understanding of the whole before the exploration of the parts. Journeys that follow a pace dictated by the child’s development, and in directions which follow their interest.

Bilingual Environment
Our program for bilingual atmosphere duplicates the conditions in which we all learn our first language—extended contact with a community of fluent speakers — and is by far the most effective method of language teaching. A number of children who come to Otkrivatel have English as a second language at school. They are able to benefit by fully bilingual opportunity that our education offers. For this reason we have a full time qualified native speaker teachers who are supporting the english language comprehension.

Group Play
While most of the day is spent in self-directed work, there are also times for group activity and play. The teacher may gather a group for songs or to tell stories about a cultural, scientific or historical theme of interest. Ample time is also given to run, dig, explore and play with friends outdoors. Every week the children cook, make art with water colors and clay, take care for their garden, prepare breakfast or arrange flowers. The result is self-confidence, joy and a life long love for learning.

Essential Skills for a Social Life
The Primary classroom is designed to help your child become his best self. Through “grace and courtesy” activities, we show your child how to solve conflicts, how to act politely in social situations and how to be kind and helpful to friends and strangers.

A Bridge Between Kindergarten and School
Montessori assists continuous development, which allows your child to build upon her experiences each year. Your child will stay in the Primary Classroom for 3 years, including the traditional “kindergarten year” – when the seeds of learning come to fruition. Reading and writing come to life from sounds and symbols. Get acquainted with numbers and the decimal system. He learns about geometric shapes and our world. He leaves the program with a set of academic skills and the attitude that learning is fun, exciting and boundless. At this point, your child is ready to move to the elementary school program for children from the ages of 6 to 12.
I am happy my children have been members of the Otkrivatel community for the last six years because everyday they are learning from a perspective different from what the traditional educations has to offer. At Otkrivatel my children have the opportunity to grow up as free individuals who are learning how to be responsible for themselves, for others and the surrounding environment by following their inner potential.
