February is very special. It is the month of Carnivals around the world. From Venice, Italy and the Canary Islands, Spain to Cologne, Germany to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is the month in which we celebrate Trifon Zarezan on February 14th, which is one of the oldest customs in the Bulgarian folk calendar, associated with the first year of the vines growing – the spring incision. It is the month of Vasil Levski, we as Bulgarians bow with respect to honor our national hero Vasil Levski, the Apostle of Freedom, on February 19th. February is also special because it is the month of our Hundredth School Day.
