The first Montessori school in Bulgaria, following AMI standards (Association Montessori Internationale), continues its journey and growth, not only as a bilingual school, but also as part of the international IB World School community. Otkrivatel already has the status of a candidate school for the PYP and MYP program of the International Baccalaureate (IB).
The organisation works in accordance with Montessori principles to develop children’s skills, giving them the opportunity to form their own authenticity, self-vision and purposefulness. Students are encouraged to think critically and solve complex problems; to develop not only academic, but also social and emotional characteristics; to manage their own learning.
The main goal of any Montessori school is to prepare children to have the necessary life skills. The academic program and knowledge do not differ from those in a traditional school, but in Otkrivatel the way of learning is different. Preparation begins earlier and thanks to special Montessori materials, each child develops his skills and walks the path to abstraction, derives the formula or conclusion, defines the rule and exceptions.
From the upcoming 2023-2024 school year, the Maria Montessori specialised school, with a different approach in thinking, is transforming from a primary to a secondary school, giving its students the opportunity to sequence the learning process with education from I to XII grades.
Humanities, civic education, entrepreneurship and extended study of foreign languages are the main highlights of the high school program at “Otkrivatel”.
